Art Background

Christine's love of drawing and painting began in childhood and she is entirely self-taught. She worked for the Royal Opera House for a number of years, both on and off stage, during which time she encountered a theatre designer who produced a collection of exquisite designs in pastel. She was to influence Christine in her desire to paint professionally, choosing Pastel as her primary medium of choice, although she often uses oils, acrylics or Watercolour. Christine is an experienced, enthusiastic and patient Tutor in all mediums, who enjoys sharing her expertise with her students here in the UK and abroad. Christine shares a studio with her daughter, Claire Picture Framer and Gilder, at Stone in Gloucestershire where framed originals, prints and cards are always on display at the Studio/Gallery, as well as Claire's Decoupage Dishes.

Claire offers bespoke picture framing according to the customer's individual needs, tastes and budget. There is a wide range of off the peg moldings and acid free mount board to choose from, a variety of glass including, Float, WaterWhite, Reflection control and UV conservation glass. For the more specialised frame, Claire can offer traditional Water & Oil gilding, sympathetic hand finishing and frame restoration work, she also frames a multitude of items, from prints & photographs, to paintings, embroideries and 3D items, including baseball caps, T-Shirts, dolls and even weaponry!  

Claire regularly frames artworks for many amateur and distinguished professional artists alike, also framing works for several prestigious households and hotels.

Demonstration pieces and articles have featured in a number of publications: Masterstrokes, Pastel and Painting Great Pictures From Photographs (books published by Sterling Publishing inc), Who's Who in Art and The Society of Women Artists Exhibitors, 1855-1996. The Collins Artist's Sketchbook, and in The International Artist and Pastel Artist International magazines.
